The Teaching Lab approach is an effort to begin shifting the focus of the training from AEP associates to a shared approach with the teachers from your district or school through CRSH case study presentations or teaching demonstrations.

Building upon the collaborative learning from our CRSH Institutes, AEP provides quarterly Teaching Laboratory days throughout the school year. The protocol in the Teaching Lab include the continued facilitation of CRSH themes, presentations of educator case studies focusing on the implementation of CRSH practices in the classroom or school, and sample teaching models for potential unit/lesson plans or policies. Examples of these themes:
  1. Cultivating Identity and Voice through Self-Reflection and Critical Consciousness
  2. Authentic Community Engagement through Academic Content
  3. Co-constructing CRSH Educational Practices with Youth and Communities
  4. Introduction to Youth Participatory Action Research

The Lab space is also a fertile area where we invite youth and community members to help co-construct curriculum and/or policy changes based in CRSH practices with our partner school districts.
