Jackie Viernes RogersAssociateJackie Viernes Rogers identifies as an educator, mom, partner, student, friend, and a proud daughter and granddaughter of Filipino immigrants. She has a B.A. in History and Ethnic Studies from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and a M.A.T. in Adolescent Education from Union College (NY). She began her teaching career on the East Coast where she taught middle and high school social studies in upstate New York and northern Virginia, where in 2014 she was honored as her school’s Teacher of the Year. Jackie returned home to the Bay Area in 2016 and was the first teacher to pilot ninth grade Introduction to Ethnic Studies in the San Mateo Union High School District. She is honored to be teaching and empowering the amazing scholars of San Bruno, and working with her colleagues to develop and further the movement for Ethnic Studies. When she’s not teaching, Jackie loves spending time with her partner, Phil, and two young children, Lucy and Westley, in their hometown of Half Moon Bay, California.
