Brian LozenskiAssociateBrian Lozenski is an associate professor of urban and multicultural education in the Educational Studies Department at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Brian taught for over a decade in Philadelphia, PA and St. Paul, MN. As a teacher educator, activist, and researcher he has worked with other educators, youth, parents, schools, and districts to develop perspectives and strategies that aspire toward social justice while illuminating the historical realities that have created current educational disparities. Brian holds deep commitments to a community-engaged framework where academic researchers follow the lead of community members and organizations to identify prevalent issues that can be addressed through an inquiry-based approach. In this effort he is affiliated with organizations such as the Education for Liberation Network , the Twin Cities Solidarity Committee, the Network for the Development of Children of African Descent, and the Institute for Urban and Minority Education at Teachers College, among others. Brian is also one of the founding members of the Education for Liberation – Minnesota Chapter.
