Are you new to Ethnic Studies? Then, this is the institute for you! Learn the tenets, pedagogy, and authentic and engaging curricular models from some of the leading K-12 Ethnic Studies educators in the nation. Music will be used throughout our institute to engage in liberatory and critical themes, so be ready to move and groove!

Our Ethnic Studies: The Fundamentals and Funkdamentals institute will include an emphasis upon the following:
- Ethnic Studies trained teachers will build a culture in their classrooms that will support the development of student critical thought, analysis and action beyond required standards.
- Ethnic Studies trained teachers will build community among educators that embodies a collective responsibility in the development of curriculum and instruction that represents the diversity of students.
- Ethnic Studies trained teachers will identify, apply and share humanizing practices from their classroom implementation of Ethnic Studies.
- Ethnic Studies will experience model lessons and build curriculum lessons and units aligned to Ethnic Studies tenets with AEP facilitators.
